Roae’s Offices Now Taking Appointments for Property Tax/Rent Rebate Assistance
January 18, 2024
HARRISBURG — Rep. Brad Roae (R-Crawford/Erie) today announced his Meadville office at the Park Avenue Plaza, Linesville office beside the post office and Cranesville office in the borough building are now taking appointments for people who want help completing their Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications.
Residents 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 and older, or anyone 18 or older on disability who meet income guidelines can receive a rebate on a portion of their property taxes or rent paid in 2023.
“Several hundred more people in the 6th Legislative District will qualify for the program this year since we passed legislation to increase the income eligibility limits and then have them adjusted each year based on the Consumer Price Index,” Roae said. “For this year’s program, the income limit is $45,000. The way this is calculated only half of a person’s Social Security income counts. Thus, if a retired couple received a total of $50,000 in Social Security in 2023, it would only equate to $25,000 as far as the eligibility limits are concerned.”
Under the new law, the maximum rebate also was increased from $650 to $1,000. The program is funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery rather than from sales tax or personal income tax revenue.
With more people qualifying and needing help completing the application, Roae encourages people to call his Meadville office at the Park Avenue Plaza now to schedule an appointment as there will be more demand for assistance. The phone number is 814-336-1136. The Linesville office is only open on Tuesdays, while the Cranesville office operates on Thursdays.
The 6th Legislative District includes the city of Meadville; Beaver, Conneaut, East Fairfield, East Fallowfield, East Mead, Fairfield, Greenwood, Hayfield, North Shenango, Pine, Randolph, Sadsbury, South Shenango, Spring, Summerhill, Summit, Union, Vernon, Wayne, West Fallowfield, West Mead and West Shenango townships; and Cochranton, Conneaut Lake, Conneautville, Linesville and Springboro boroughs in Crawford County and Conneaut, Elk Creek and Springfield townships and Albion and Cranesville boroughs in Erie County.
